Big City

At first glance the Big City milestone seems a bit less exciting than previous benchmarks, but there both the crematorium and the water treatment plant are very important items -- and well worth working towards.

The floating garbage collector comes in the GREEN CITIES pack and while it is cute I didn't find it helping my dirty water (another city). Perhaps though my water wasn't dirty enough :D.

Before we look at just WHY the crematorium and the water treatment plant are important to the game let's take stock of our city at this level.

BIG CITY STATS

CEMETERIES   3 = one full and 2 2/3rds full
ELECTRICITY = middle of the green bar
WATER AND SEWER  = almost to the middle of the green bar
GARBAGE = all roads covered; some light green where the traffic is heavy
EDUCATION = 2 times coverage on elementary; a  three quarters of the spaces used on high school; no college; no library
FIRE = 6 fire houses (the small ones)
POLICE = 2 (both in the built up area)
TRANSPORTATION = 1 bus line with 1 very long route; 1 cargo train station
DISTRICTS = 10

I am very big on clean air, water and soil so "for me" the pollution levels are important.

Here is the current pollution map:

Here is the district map:

And the traffic map:

People are important to of course:

So that's my report. Your statistics could be very different than mine. We are likely building very different cities. But be sure and check what is going on now and then. It's important.

CEMETERIES and CREMATORIUMS

Cemeteries are problematic just like landfills.   They fill up over time, get closed down and simply take up room.  As your city grows it can become a place with more landfills and cemeteries than houses and shops.  My city of 160,000 had at around fifty cemeteries. They were indeed a problem.

So I would strongly suggest that you eliminate the centimetres (or leave a few for ambiance perhaps) and rely on the crematoriums.  They take up very little space and can fit into the environment more easily.

Just like with the landfills, I "emptied" the cemeteries into the crematoriums, placing one crematorium near  each of the cemeteries for ease of emptying.

Once the cemetery is empty it can be deleted.  I will leave one for realism :D.

Watch the efficiency of your crematoriums and add more as needed in different population areas. This will keep the blinking skull icons at bay.

At the crossroads -- the crematorium.
To the right =-- three working incinerators and one turned off.
At the bottom -- the cemetery on its way to be deleted.

WATER TREATMENT

You can replace the water drain pipes with water treatment plants to keep the pollution down.

My pollution is minimal at this point. It does however flow downstream to the new area I just purchased :D.  Since I know that I have a more efficient version of this plant (GREEN CITIES) that will be available to me at the 24,000 level I am going to wait to fix issue.

If you replace the pipes, be sure and check that the plants are fully operational when installed.

On to our last milestones and some final thoughts.
